i love your comic, and you're doing awesome with it! i just wanted to ask kind of a stupid question. shadow and sonic aren't BEST friends obviously, but they do look out for each other. was it just being a team for so long that made them grow close, or was it a sudden realization that they made that they would just have to put up with each other? sorry that was kinda long but im genuinely curious as to how sonic and shadow became a strong team

Honestly GOTF Sonic and Shadow are closer than best friends, or even brothers… they’re soulmates (pun intended). They’ve shared the same space– mentally, emotionally, and physically– for centuries. Their strengths and weaknesses compliment each other, and neither of them could have done any of this without the other. Their connection is magnetic, and has been since the moment they met.

The flashback sections of the comic are mostly there to illustrate how they went from slightly obsessive rivalry(a la SA2) to this deeper understand. Sonic was able to pull Shadow out of his vicious cycle of self-pity and hatred, and in return Shadow gives Sonic the focus and stability to keeping moving forward, not getting lost in his past. Issue 16, pages 1-7 kind of encapsulate the core of their relationship.
